I remember we used to do this in previous leagues, and would even be beneficial to do BEFORE finishing this offseason.
As goalies are more of a rare commodity, and usually sit in the minors longer, I suggest that they should be able to be APUd to 80 with APUs (players remain the same with a max of 78).
This allows them to actually be effective in the NHL after the minors (really tough to have a 78 OA goalie play in the NHL).

If you are referring to APU, I already brought up possibly changing the MAX overall for APU for all players to 80 OA. It's at 78 OA right now. This was discussed last week and might be implemented next season. There's also a reason why 78 OA is the max and why it's hard for 77+ OA players to get a decent upgrade in the minors. They need to play in the NHL to go from 77 OA to 81/82 OA. Then they need to play in your top 9 to get better. That's how it's supposed to work but doesn't always work out that way. Too many people have it in their minds that because they have a young player, they will get an auto-upgrade. Guys need to get away from this mindset, it puts too much value on young players. Also, Florida Panthers GM, Knight wouldn't be allowed to be APU'd past 78 OA.

I think keeping it at 78 for players is fine, I'm just saying that it used to be that goalies went to 80, while players went to 78. The effectiveness of a goalie in the NHL at an 80 is around the same as a player at 78

Okay, say that to 80 Sorokin this past season, who had insane stats, and played like a 90.

And I’m probably conflating this suggestion with my argument that goalies be treated different than skaters MPU wise.

That’s exactly what I mean by not receptive. I appreciate what you do a lot but it’s honestly pretty annoying on this league most suggestions are just met with people stating what the current rules are and not engaging about how the site could be improved.

Pretty much just "Knight can't go past 78 because of APU" and "Sorokin is 80 and a beast". I'm suggesting that APU limits be changed for goalies, where their limit is 80 rather than 78, allowing us to APU them to a higher OA. Goalies usually HAVE to develop in the AHL. It's extremely rare for a goalie to go from junior to the AHL. They develop into serviceable backups (80+ OA), and then after being a backup, they become a starter. Pretty much look at any Goalie in the NHL and you'll see that he spent time in the AHL at some point.

We’re going off about something that privately has been discussed but wasn’t answered with anything to do with the actual topic of the thread? I’m at least not part of your mod discord so I have no idea what you guys have been talking about. And this for the most part was just answered with what the current rules are, exactly as it was when I expressed an opinion on how goalie MPU is treated.

Like if you don’t want members of this site to express their opinions about how this site is run you should advertise it. I’m getting a little tired of being treated like I’m going on a tirade for expressing an opinion, the sole intention of which is to make this site better for everyone involved, whether others agree or not.

Former Canucks GM Read part of the 3rd post. Gives you all the explanation needed. Not sure what else you want someone to say. APU is closed for this offseason, so any changes would happen next offseason If you are referring to APU, I already brought up possibly changing the MAX overall for APU for all players to 80 OA. It's at 78 OA right now. This was discussed last week and might be implemented next season.

The 3rd post has nothing to do with the difference between goalies and skaters. Why do they have to be separate for APU? Well, in a league where these changes Florida suggested were implemented development should be proportionate. Allowing goalies to develop to 80 so they can potentially backup on a contending team is not the same as allowing GRN forwards get to 80 and play on the 4th line.

Would you prefer I just post a "Yes" "No" "Maybe" for all suggestions going forward and not ask any other member. There are 10 GMs who I ask when someone posts a suggestion or PMs me about one. All of the GMs are either an admin or trade mod. Not really anything else I can do unless I just make all the decisions myself and not take in other GMs perspectives. The number 1 thing for any suggestion is how much extra time will it take to do. That is the very first thing I think about when looking at someone's suggestion. You don't seem to understand the time commitment for things.

I don’t see how this one fits into that category though. And I understand that the group of mods who discuss this stuff thoughtfully have discussions about this stuff but responding to member suggestions with “it’s been discussed” isn’t good enough. And that’s not on you as the simmer to respond to, it’s on the ten people you’re having these discussions with

That’s in my own experience of course, I’m not trying to speak for anyone else. But can you say that Florida’s idea has been SPECIFICALLY responded to? yep, will not change the max APU for goalies only. If APU is changed it will be for all players. It was mentioned in the 3rd post. Shouldn't have to clarify that goalies would be included. All would be changed or none would be changed. Players around 78-81 OA have always been in limbo. It's an OA where GMs need to make a decision on how they want the player to fit into their team. Play in NHL and have them become NHLers or play them in the AHL and potentially turn them into AHL lifers. It also forces teams who tank and have too many young players to trade some of those players.
